After a whopping 50 inches of snow fell on Arapahoe Basin in May, the resort announced on Wednesday morning that lifts will continue to run through Sunday, June 14. This news comes as no surprise to skiers and riders who frequented the Summit County ski area this past month.

Originally the ski area was planning on closing June 7th.

Since making that announcement, Arapahoe Basin has received more than adequate enough snowfall to keep the ski area open for one more, long weekend. As of now, “The Basin” will be closed on weekdays starting June 8 and will re-open on June 12th and stay open till 2:30 p.m. on June 14th.

As one of the three resorts still in operation in the United States, Arapahoe Basin is looking forward to a strong finish to a season that saw inconsistent snowfall and skier visits. However, on Mother’s Day, A-Basin reported breaking its single day skier visit record by 15% after a late season storm provided for mid-winter, powder conditions.

Currently the weather is partly cloudy with a trace of snow in the last 24 hours.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area could extend the season even further if mother nature provides. Stay tuned.
