An accident at a Maine ski resort has left seven people injured. A lift at Sugarloaf Mountain started rolling backwards causing panic and leading some to jump to safety. Reports says the lift went into reverse for about one minute.

The accident occurred on the King Pine lift this Saturday with chairs slid backwards for around 150m.

More than 200 people were on the lift at the time.

Those who did not jump were winched off.

No one was seriously injured. The seven who were hurt were treated by the ski patrol and some were then taken to hospital.

An investigation is now underway.
