An extensive air and ground search continues this morning for a lost skier on Mt. Bachelor. Ryan Melrose DeYoung, 21, failed to return home from a Sunday skiing trip on Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort. It is believed that the young man skied beyond the resort’s boundaries and is now lost.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol contacted Deschutes County sheriff’s dispatchers around 1:25 p.m. Sunday after they found ski tracks in the out of bounds area known as “catch line”.

More than a dozen Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Teams have been deployed to find DeYoung.  The search area includes the 9,068-foot summit of the mountain, where temperatures plunged to the 20s overnight.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public to help find DeYoung who might have returned to Bend in an unknown persons car without notifying his family.
