Two skiers were killed last week after crashing into trees at two Lake Tahoe resorts.

The first death took place at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort on Feb. 12 when an employee, skiing on his day off, hit a tree and suffered a head injury.

“Unfortunately, he had the accident and no one knew about it until the next day when a snow-shoer happened upon him,” said Dena Erwin, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department.

The worker, an 18-year-old from Brazil, was employed on an exchange visa.

Then on Friday, a 43-year-old man from Belmont, CA died at Northstar-at-Tahoe after also striking a tree.
