Last season was a monstrous one for parts of the Alps. Western resorts enjoyed some of the deepest snow ever recored. Here is more on last season epicness from telegraph.co.uk.
The French and western Swiss Alps continued to get hammered, and by the end of the season several resorts – including Les Deux Alpes with 10.8m at 2600m – had broken their all-time records. No such extremes for the eastern Alps, but there were also regular snowfalls, with higher resorts in western Austria (such as Obergurgl) and the Italian Dolomites enjoying a particularly good season. The snowiest resort in the Alps, however, was Avoriaz in France, with a whopping 11.8m at resort level (1800m), the resort’s second snowiest season ever.
The Pyrenees also saw huge snowfalls last winter – too much snow for many, in fact. Some resorts were cut off for days on end, and Cauterets had clocked up a record-breaking 16m of snow at 2000m by the end of the season.
