Spire Pant

Spire Pant

The Marmot Spire pant is a solid option for virtually any winter sport enthusiast.  It is bright enough for the resort.  Light enough to hike in.  Dexterous enough to hold up to mountaineering.  Versatile enough for extreme snowblading.  The Spire pant is your next pant!

Key features:

  • Gore-Tex Performance Shell
  • Seam-taped 3-layer Construction
  • Full Side Zips
  • Removable/Adjustable Suspenders

My favorite feature of the Spire is the full side zips.  While this is traditionally a mountaineering feature, it is a convenient feature to have in the resort as well. When fuddling with knee braces, ski socks, or bunched up boxers, having the full side zip makes adjustments a breeze.  They also double as the largest vent on the market!

Another key feature of the Spire pant is the three-layer GORE-TEX performance shell.  This is the most waterproof pant I have ever used; snow, snain, or straight rain the pants bead up and shed the water exceptionally well.  Also, the fact that the pant is only a shell means it remains cool on warm spring days, but has a loose enough fit to layer up underneath when temperatures begin to drop.

The biggest issue with the Spire pant is the rather bland color options, but fear not!  For next year Marmot is brightening their colorways and shifting toward eye popping colors so bright you’ll need shades to stare directly at them.  And don’t, black will still be a production color for all you ninjas out there.

Overall the Spire is a great pant for the active outdoor enthusiast.  Lightweight and dexterous, it will last you for years.  If you are looking for a pant that is warm without any layering you might shy away, but overall it is a great piece of outerwear that won’t disappoint.
