Jackson Hole just got 80 Inches of Snow in 8 days which brought them to a 80 inch base.

Jackson is going off right now.  Corbet’s Couloir opened and there is footage of it at 3:15.

The backcountry in Jackson must be off the charts good right now.  Be aware of the Avy Danger, though, humans!

The Avy Danger is still labeled as CONSIDERABLE.

If you are in Tahoe or anywhere else in the Western USA, that stuff in the video flying all over their faces and in the trees is called “fresh snow”.

Here is the wikipedia definition for you:

Snow is a form of precipitation within the Earth’s atmosphere in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall fromclouds. Since snow is composed of small ice particles, it is a granular material. It has an open and therefore soft structure, unless packed by external pressure. Snowflakes come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Types which fall in the form of a ball due to melting and refreezing, rather than a flake, are known as graupelice pellets or snow grains. Snowfall amount and its related liquid equivalent precipitation amount are determined using a variety of different rain gauges.
