Everyone around Whistler is talking about the Grand Fondo and so I figured I’d do some research. Much to my disappointment is has nothing to do with a big pot of melting cheese or chocolate.  That being said it is still pretty bad ass.

Basically it is a event where somewhere around 4000 cyclists ride from downtown Vancouver all the way to Whistler. Pretty epic ride if you ask me. Throughout the ride cyclists will climb 2,400 meters and get a small break in the 1,750 meters of descent. Overall the riders will end their race 650 meters higher then they began.

Moral of the story put your fondu forks away and remember that during the race there will be traffic changes on the respective roads. driving from Vancouver to Whistler on race day would be a fondon’t.
