On Saturday morning, seven teenage boys were strolling along a river in AK, when a vicious grizzly attacked them. Two of the boys were severely injured and had to be rescued on Sunday morning. The group was apart of the National Outdoor Leadership School and were at the tail end of their 30 day trip.

Reportedly, the group of youngsters were crossing the river, when on the other side they saw the bear. Don Ford of NOLS said that the bear was protecting her cub. Although the group of kids did not see the cub, they did notice movement in a bush next to the attacking bear.

After the attack, the group activated an emergency beacon and were rescued by helicopter Sunday morning. Four were injured and three are currently at the Providence Alaska medical center in Anchorage.

NOLS has canceled the remainder of it’s current trips in Alaska.
