KING COUNTY, Washington – Snoqualmie Fire Department and Emergency Management, with assistance from Eastside Fire & Rescue, Eastside Firefighters and Bellevue (WA) Fire Department, successfully conducted a technical rescue of a sport climber who had fallen 40 feet in Olallie State Park on Saturday, September 7.
Snoqualmie Fire Department and Emergency Management stated that the fall occurred 300 feet above the Deception Crags climbing area, a location which, according to Mountain Project, contains a variety of sport routes from grades 5.5 to 5.12+ within just ten minutes of the road.
The climber’s gear worked as intended, stopping the individual after falling just 40 feet, rather than the entire 300 feet to the ground. His climbing partner provided first aid and assisted in getting the man off the wall.
