Rock breaks off in climbers hands.
Rock breaks off in climbers hands.

Arborist and climber Guillem Teba Galbis had a harrowing moment on a trad ascent of a the face along the popular trekking path Ruta del Cares in Spain when a rock he was using for a hand hold came broke loose and hit him in the forearm and thigh. Thankfully his gear held as the rock flake crashed to the ground and he wasn’t seriously injured.

Although this rock flake didn’t hit Guillem in the head, this is is an excellent reminder to wear a climbing helmet and also to be aware of falling debris when below a climber.
