Mountain guide Peter von Känel was fully aware of the bergschrund (German for crevasse) danger he was walking into trying to find a safe route for a backcountry crew and was roped off for just this contingency. After getting pulled out, found a safe snow bridge 4 meters uphill that allowed a stable crossing of the bergschrund. Scary stuff but he was well prepared.
