Switzerland- On Easter Monday, a fatal avalanche occurred above the Riffelberg mountain station in Zermatt, Switzerland. Since the news broke, video has emerged of the avalanche.
In this video shared by YouTuber Alexander Green, a snow cloud engulfed cliffs above where he and other skiers were gathered. Bystanders instantly were worried as they spotted skiers around the area before the avalanche occurred. Someone said in the video that four people were around the slide path before it happened.
According to the Associated Press, the slide happened at around 2 p.m. local time on Monday. An avalanche swept through an off-piste trail, killing three skiers, including a fifteen-year-old American boy. One other person, a twenty-year-old Swiss skier, suffered severe injuries and needed to be taken to the hospital.
