WATCH: The Crown Jewel Of Steep Skiing In The White Mountains

Tuckerman Ravine gets all the glory for being one of the quintessential backcountry skiing destinations in the world, but there are many quality skiing lines in the White Mountains. A couple of weeks ago, YouTuber Ryan Delena posted a descent of one of the most challenging routes in the White Mountains.

Located in Huntington Ravine, Damnation Gully is not for the faint of heart. In the video, Ryan has to boot pack up, belay to the entry to make sure it was safe, make the initial turns, rappel down the middle section due to ice bulges, and then cruise through what is still a steep and narrow bottom third of the route. Damnation Gully is rarely skiable and is only recommended for expert ski mountaineers.

In simpler terms: As some superhero said in a commercial that I’ve seen too many times on TV lately…

“You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts.”

The video from Ryan Delena is below.
