Salt Lake City’s Emergency Ski Bus Service Starts Today

An Immediate Solution for Traffic in the Cottonwood Canyons - Newschoolers.com

Skiers and snowboarders wanting to visit the ski resorts in Utah’s Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons will have a new transportation option starting today, January 26th, 2023.

The Cottonwood Connect service will run every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through April 16th.

Round-trips cost $10 per person, and online reservations are required to be made here.

The Cottonwood Connect emergency bus service is a response to UTA cutting their ski bus service due to staffing shortages.

Here are more details about The Cottonwood Connect, including the four routes currently being offered:

Snow Country Limousine has been contracted for the Cottonwood Connect. They’ll use a fleet of coaches and large passenger vans, similar to the one in the featured image above.

According to KSL.com, county officials have stated that there will be a 736-passenger capacity this week, but that they expect to reach 1,120 weekly passengers by the end of the season.

Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird, and Alta have all reported near-record snowfall totals so far this year.

The prime conditions, plus the limited bus service, have put a strain on traffic in the canyons.

Here’s hoping the Cottonwood Connect can alleviate some of the congestion for the remainder of the season.
