Massive Snowboarding Jump Built At Canadian Stadium For Big Air Event

Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta is currently undergoing a temporary renovation, as a massive jump has been built for a Big Air World Cup event. The FIS Big Air World Cup Event is happening at the 56,302-seat stadium on December 9th and 10th, so crews have spent the past three weeks getting the 147-foot tall and 483-foot long jump set up.

The stadium typically hosts the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League, so the stadium will definitely have a different feel. The event will be the first-ever big air jump in a Canadian stadium. Some of the snowboarders will include Mark McMorris, Max Parrot, and Laurie Blouin. Other activities will include epic live music, lifestyle activations, action sports demos, all-nighters, [and] hangovers.” You can purchase tickets for the event here.

It reminds me a lot of the Big Air Jump they set up at Fenway Park a couple of years back, so this event will be a ton of fun.  A video from City News that describes the construction is below.
