It’s easy to forget what a high stakes game halfpipe skiing is when you get accustomed to seeing athletes greasing massive airs, wall after wall with seemingly little effort but it’s a game of inches where slight mistakes can lead to life changing injuries. Such was the case for 3-time U.S. Olympic halfpipe skier, X Games gold medalist and FIS Freestyle World Champion, Aaron Blunck cased a coping while training in Austria back in October 2020. Aaron ended up concussed with a 6 broken ribs, a broken pelvis, grade 3 lacerated kidney and a bruised heart and lung. Once stabilized he returned home to America and began his journey to recovery.
