Does Palisades Tahoe Have the Best Pond Skim on the Planet?

Pond skims are one of the quintessential events of spring skiing, as skiers and riders try to go through a modestly sized man-made pond. What makes the Cushing Crossing event at Palisades Tahoes so special is that it takes place on the natural Cushing Pond, a permanent fixture in the landscape. This past Sunday was the thirtieth running of the event and the first since 2019 due to the pandemic. The overall winner received a 2022/2023 Season Pass and $500 cash. It’s looking like a great end of the season for the Palisades, as 35″ inches of snow in the past seven days has made for some great spring skiing. The resort is expected to close on May 1st.
