After being inactive last season due to Covid-19, Denver’s Ruby Hill Rail Yard reopened yesterday. What’s notable from this opening day is the timing: the second week of February. Denver has had a historically low snow winter, leading to little snow coverage at the time of its opening. Luckily, Winter Park Resort loaned the rail garden their snowmaking equipment to get a firm base. The hill features ten rails and boxes, the option to rent equipment on Thursdays and Saturdays, and will host a youth rail competition on February 19th. Denver Parks & Recreation is hoping to keep the rail yard open until late March.
