Ground-Breaking Facility Filters 4,000 Tons of Carbon Out of the Air Per Year

Climeworks is a company in Iceland that has just deployed a ground-breaking facility that actually filters carbon out of the air. The facility is called ‘Orca’ and it filters 4,000 tons of carbon out of the air per year.

To put that into perspective, planting trees in the same area that the facility rests on would only filter 4 tons of carbon out of the air per year.

It will be interesting if this type of facility catches on across the world and if widespread adoption could help move the needle on humanity going carbon neutral.  You gotta start somewhere and these folks in Iceland already have:
