Vail Resorts has announced that employees at its resorts in Colorado, Washington, Utah, and California will be paid no less than $15/hour moving forward.
The move to raise pay comes as Vail is rebounding quite well following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Epic Pass sales are through the roof.
Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz said in a letter to employees,
““The cost of these wage changes will be the largest single investment we make as we head into next season,”
Vail also announced that all full-time seasonal employees will be given paid sick leave for the coming winter season.
We love to take our cheap shots at the corporate overlords that are Vail Resorts here at Unofficial Networks, but offering higher wages and sick time off for employees is surely a good thing.
Good on Vail to take better care of their employees. Let’s hope that progressive changes continue to come from Vail Resorts, and that the rest of the ski industry is forced to follow suit.
