Snowboarders Reach Plea Deal For Triggering Avalanche That Buried Colorado Highway

A pair of snowboarders that ended up in court after triggering an avalanche burying a roadway above the Eisenhower Tunnel in 20 feet of debris have reached a plea deal.  Summit County prosecutors originally threatened Evan Hannibal, 26, and Tyler DeWitt, 38, with jail time and fines to the tune of  $168,000 in damages to pay for repairs to a very expensive avalanche mitigation device that was damaged by the slide. In the end they pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor, and will only owe community service.

What you think of the judgement/punishment…too much, too little, just right?
