Apollo was okay after being buried in an avalanche for 20 minutes.

Thank goodness this video has a happy ending, or else I’d be sitting in a pool of tears…

A group of backcountry skiers and snowboarders searched for 20 minutes until they uncovered a dog named Apollo that had been buried in an avalanche in Berthoud Pass, CO.

The entire incident was caught on film and covered by ABC7 below.

Check out the entire raw video below if you want to watch the scene unfold in near real-time. That must have been the most stressful 20-minutes of these guys’ lives.

Thank the snow gods above that Apollo was okay!!!

Robert White:“Witnessed a very large avalanche off of “Nitro Chutes” while skiing more mellow terrain at “the roll” at berthoud pass. A dog in a separate party of two wondered off a higher traverse into avalanche terrain and was swept over the nitro cliffs. We had nearly given up on the search due to avalanche danger but finally located him after a 20 minute search while going to retrieve ski poles.”
