Quick reminder to anyone out there winter camping, you might think it’s all good to leave a campfire unattended when there’s snow on the ground but its not only dangerous, you could face serious legal consequences to the tune of six months in jail. Over the weekend people camping near Eleven Mile State Park in Colorado were cited for leaving a campfire unattended after it escaped the fire pit and lit a nearby stump and grass on fire. Colorado Parks and Wildlife shared a photo of the fire and the empty PBRs and Banquet Beers left around it and said the occupants of the camp were cited for failing to extinguish a campfire. They will have to go before a judge who can issue a fine of up to $750 and/or six months in jail. All for bonfires at a winter campsite but do it responsibly folks.
