SNOW BULLETIN: Colorado Snowpack Exceptionally Weak (Worst Since 2012)

With President’s Day weekend upon us and tons of skiers and snowboarders taking the opportunity to head into the backcountry, The Director of Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Ethan Greene, wanted to explain the issues of the current snowpack and help people make sound decisions in what is sure to be a busy three days in the backcountry.

“Please watch and think about these conditions as you consider backcountry travel. Please read the forecast before you go! Let’s join together as a community and turn these trends around. All the footage and pictures are from this season, 2020/2021. There have been 8 fatalities in Colorado this season, more than the yearlong average of 6, and it’s only February. There were 15 fatalities across the US last week.”
