There’s just something comforting about the fact that no matter what season graces our globe– there’s still skiing to be had somewhere.
Even in September and October, lifts are turning. Right now, the only year-round ski areas are in the Alps but North America could have its very own year-round ski are once a new resort is completed in interior BC.
Zermatt, Switzerland + Cervinia, Italy
Zermatt and its Italian neighbor Cervinia offer year round skiing for the skiing public on the Theodul glacier in Switzerland and Plateau Rosà in Italy. The Swiss area boasts 21km of glaciated terrain featuring groomed slopes and terrain parks.

Hintertux, Austria
Hintertux is well-known the world over for hosting 365 days of skiing on its namesake, Hintertux glacier. The skiable terrain is vast with approximately 60km of piste available during the summer months. It doesn’t hurt that you can also see the Dolomites from the glacier itself.

- 60 km of groomed slopes + terrain parks
- Views of the Dolomites, Großglockner, and Zugspitze
Coming Soon: Valemount, Canada
Coming soon to North America, the first glacier-based, year-round ski resort. Resort officials at Valemount have indicated there may not be a need to stop operations in September/October (*Timberline Lodge) but could instead keep the lifts spinning on their glacier 365 days a year.
