Bomb Cyclone Engulfs Alaska With Intense Snowstorm

Is there a cooler meteorological term than Bomb Cyclone?  Violent, intense, and if you are a skier or snowboarder its pay dirt. Strange Sounds reports this winter, rapidly-intensifying cyclones are forming over and over again in the northern Pacific.

This week, the new bombogenesis has dropped an incredible 23 mbar in 12 hours and 36mbar in 24 hours (explosive cyclogenesis = 24mbar drop in 24 hours). The exploding storm affected south and southeast Alaska with hurricane-like winds, major waves and swell as well as intense snowstorms.
