Operation Mountain Goat Air-Drop Happening Again In Olympic National Park

“Mountain goat relocation will allow these animals to reoccupy historical range areas in the Cascades and increase population viability.” -U.S. Forest Service Wildlife Biologist Jesse Plumage

For the second year in a row Olympic National Park will conduct a mountain goat relocation program using helicopters.  K5 News reports the team will will use helicopters, tranquilizer darts, and net guns to capture the goats and then transport them using special slings to staging areas in the North Cascades. There are two two-week goat drop operations planned this summer that will impact Olympic National Park visitors so be aware if you plan to visit July 8-19 or August 19-30
