Paul Cuthbertson, a lifelong local of Eagle and Summit counties, passed away Friday night while skiing up to the Polar Star Inn, according to Vail Daily. Paul was headed to the hut to meet up with friends to celebrate his 21st birthday.
The cause of death has not been made public at this time. It is believed that Cuthbertson left late Friday afternoon to ski up to the popular backcountry lodge.
After Cuthbertson did not show up Friday night, his friends went looking for him at first light Saturday morning. Vail Mountain Rescue and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office also joined the search.
