“A snowmobiler was caught, fully buried, and killed in an avalanche yesterday (Feb 7, 2019) in the Tushar mountains of Southwest Utah, just east of the town of Beaver. His body was recovered the following day by beaver county search and rescue and many other agencies and organizations. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. “Details are just emerging but here’s what we know. We will visit the site tomorrow. 49 yr old man from Mona, UT, riding with friend and 14 year old son. Climbing chute. 3rd of 4th try avy breaks 500 yards wide with 8 foot crown. Victim buried near bottom of slide but 10 feet above the sled. 4 to 5 feet deep. He had a beacon and friend had a beacon but not skilled at its use. No Probe. Took estimated 30-40 minutes to dig out.”-Utah Avalanche Center
