The austral ski season is winding down and by this time next month, it’ll be ski mountaineering season in the southern hemisphere.
This past week, Australia and South America were treated to new snow with Chile receiving the lion’s share. Valle Nevado and Portillo scored big with storm totals measuring upwards of a foot of fresh at higher elevations. All in all, New Zealand remains in first place. The season started early and periodic refreshes have made good conditions the norm throughout the 2018 season.
