Ski fields in New Zealand are gearing up for their 2018 ski season. That effort has been greatly helped by an early season snowfall that dropped a heap of snow on the Southern Alps.

Resorts are set to open for the season in mid June, but Cardrona is opening for skiing & snowboarding this coming weekend in a pre-season teaser before official Opening Day.

“We just reckon this is too good not to share, so we want you all to come up & get your fix before we finish getting ready for our June 16 Opening Day.
Last week we had over 90cm of natural snow, & the legendary snowmaking team made heeeeeaps of snow on top of that. The snowfall from last week was the latest in a string of storms this year, with large snowfalls on the mountain every month in 2018 (except for January).

The McDougall’s Chondola, the Beginners’ Area & The Lounge will be open from 8.30am through till 4pm both weekend days!” – Cardrona
