Aspen Selling More Pot Than Liquor ( Aspen’s Retailers Generate $730.4 Million 2017)

The Aspen Times reports Aspen’s marijuana dispensaries made more than the liquor stores in revenue in 2017. The city’s Finance Department in its 2017 sales tax report says legal-pot sellers made $11.3 million in revenue last year compared with $10.5 million for liquor stores, marking the first time pot  sales made more than booze in Aspen.

 

Cannabis revenue is up 16% from 2016 for the city’s 12 retail sectors, which produced $9.7 million in sales. The report shows Aspen’s retailers combined to generate $730.4 million in revenue, 2 percent better than 2016. That’s a lot of green any way you look at it.
