So… the NY Times just reported on the blowback that Norwegian Olympians are getting for wearing Dale Of Norway sweaters that exhibit a “Rune” or symbol that was worn by certain Nazi officials back in the WWII days. The symbol is literally translated as ‘tree’ or the letter ‘t’ but has since been adopted by far right, racist extremist groups in parts of Scandanavia.
The Norwegian ski team’s woolen sweater is a point of national pride. This year’s design, known as the “Attacking Viking”, is the first to drum up such controversy.
Don’t expect to see it worn by any of the Norwegian Alpine skiers this Olympics since the athletes have another sweater option called “Olympic Passion” that has also been released.
