“Before you knew it, there were 30-40 people there. We began cutting a little path toward the shore so the animals could walk out but they were so cold they couldn’t move. That’s when we just started grabbing them and pulling them out.” -Dusty Jones
This just goes to show you how good people are out in ski country. This impromptu rescue operation went down at 7:30am on Dec. 29 when a herd of elk suddenly fell through the ice of the Palisades Reservoir near the Alpine Feed Ground in Alpine, Wyoming.
FoxNews reports passersby and officials worked side by side for over an hour using ropes, crowbars, tow straps, and other tools to save the animals. Thankfully all 13 elk was pulled to safety.

Hats off to everyone that got out of their cars to help. Makes ya feel good to know people in Wyoming are willing to jump out of their warm vehicles in the morning on the way to work in freezing cold temperatures to help rescue distressed animals. Salt of the Earth.
