Earlier today, The Mountain Collective announced the addition of Snowbasin Resort in Utah and Sugarbush Resort in Vermont bringing the resort’s roster back to a total of 17 separate ski areas. The Vermont and Utah ski areas are the first additions to the Collective since the multi-resort pass lost Whistler Blackcomb and Stowe to Vail Resorts.

While many are going to label this counter action as ‘too little too late,’ the inclusion of these resorts illustrates a longer play to protect the interests of skiers who prefer diversity over conformity.

By consolidating independent owners under one pass, skiers get a different experience each time while ski area owners can keep their stake in snow business. Win, win.
