Mt. Juneau’s Chop Gully slid Wednesday and it was caught on camera. Jeneau’s urban avalanche forecaster (only in Alaska) Tom Mattice had this to say about the slide when he spoke to KTVA Alaska:

“Yesterday, it warmed up a little bit during one brief, really heavy snow shower and I think that was just enough to trigger the small slide. The snow turned into a “powder cloud” when it hit the 1,000 foot cliff in the basin and there was neither snow nor debris that reached a nearby hiking trail.”

Alaska is a different world and we love it.
