Austria Accused Of Discriminating Against Foreign Ski Instructors

With more world cup victories than any other country, it’s no surprise that Austria thinks it has the best skiers in the world.

However, that mentality is landing the European country in court after reports indicated that foreign ski instructors were not allowed to instruct Austrian nationals nor were their qualifications properly honored. According to Reuters, The European Commission will take Austria to the Court of Justice of the European Union for the alleged acts of discrimination.

The governor of the Tyrol, Guenther Platter says he is currently looking into the allegations before moving forward. He later added in an emailed statement, “We will not accept that foreign ski schools will lower the security and quality standards which we in Tyrol have built up over decades.”
