Mountain Guide Falls To His Death In Grand Teton National Park

The Grand TetonAn experienced mountain guide passed away on Saturday in Grand Teton National Park after falling 2,400 feet from the Grand Teton. According to the Jackson Hole News&Guide, 42-year-old Gary Falk was leading a group of clients down the Owen-Spalding rappel when the accident occurred.

Falk was a highly-respected 12-year veteran mountain guide. His body was carried from Valhalla Canyon via long line recovery. He leaves behind a wife and two little boys.

Exum President and co-owner Nat Patridge told the Jackson Hole News&Guide that the guiding community was “devasted” by his loss.

“Gary was a diligent guide, always the consummate professional,” Patridge said. “Exum is grieving from this news and struggling to comprehend the situation. … Our love goes out to Kate and their sons.”
