WATCH: California Snow Survey Finds Vast Improvement But Still Below Average

Great news from our favorite snow surveyor, Frank Gehrke, of the California Cooperative Snow Survey Program.  While the snowpack is still 10% below average, it is a vast improvement from last year’s measurement (when the snowpack was 95% below average.)

After 4 years of continuous drought, this year’s snowpack will definitely help with struggling reservoir levels and underwhelming stream flow, but California isn’t out the woods yet.

The effects of the drought will felt for years to come but these surveys can be seen as a positive sign.
