A significant winter storm will bring a variety of weather hazards to Washington and Oregon on Thursday, with damaging winds, heavy mountain snow, ice, and heavy rainfall expected. Atop of Mt Rainier, NOAA is forecasting 10.5 FEET of snow by end of the day Sunday.

Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning six major rivers. The icy volcano gives way to ancient forest on Mount Rainier’s lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the mountain ecosystems.
