Jackson Hole, WY and Squaw Valley, CA produce some of the best skiers in the world. They both offer up some amazing terrain and a hardcore local scene. But the attitude of the skiers who call these mountains home are quite different. Here are five ways Squaw Valley skiers and Jackson Hole skier differ.
#5. Tram vs. Cable Car
Jackson Hole: The locals love their tram and use it just about everyday.
Squaw Valley: The locals wonder why the cable car is there and only use it when Silverado is about to pop (which has not happened in 4 years).
#4. Red Nose
Jackson Hole: Your nose is red because it’s freezing out.
Squaw Valley: Your nose is red because you forgot to put on suncreen.
#3. Backpacks
Jackson Hole: If you’re seen getting onto the Tram wearing a backpack at Jackson Hole it means your cool, because you are most likely headed off to the backcountry to get EXTREME.
Squaw Valley: If you’re wearing a backpack getting on to KT-22 it’s most likely full of beers. (All of Squaw’s raddness is located within the resort so no need for backcountry pack)
#2. Old Kit
Jackson Hole: If the majority of your ski clothing is more than 5 years old you’re an OG and demand respect.
Squaw Valley: If you’re ski clothing is more than 5 years old you belong at Alpine.
