It is being reported that a woman was struck by a plane while skiing in the French Alps. The ski plane was struggling to take off when it hit a Polish skier at Avoriaz ski mountain on Thursday.
The pilot narrowly missing a group of children before striking a woman, resulting in seriously injuries. Reports state that the victim, a 55-year-old woman, suffered a near amputation of her hand from the plane’s propeller and required a medevac to a nearby hospital,the Guardian reported.
“The plane suddenly appeared behind her, and there was virtually no sound,” local public prosecutor Patrick Steinmetz told Agence France-Presse. “She didn’t hear it.”
The prosecutor’s office is investigating the accident.
