This Mountain Hut Looks Like Just Another Rock On The Mountainside

In the remote Swiss Alps lies a large rock that has a cabin inside. The structure is named Antoine after the central character from the novel Derborence by Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz. Antoine is a shepherd who emerges after seven weeks of being trapped amongst rocks following a landslide.

The construction was under the direction of architects Leopold Banchini and Daniel Zamarbide under studio Bureau A. The cabin has the necessary amenities for one person with a fireplace, wall with fold-downs for seating, table and bed. The shelter was designed to house artist residencies for Bureau A’s programme Verbier 3 Foundation.
