The snow in the mountains outside Steamboat Springs, Colorado has hit an all time high of more than 15 feet!

This incredible photo is of U.S. Forest Service employee, Nick Bencke, standing in a 194-inch-deep snow pit on Buffalo Pass on the Continental Divide northwest of Steamboat.

Retired U.S. Forest Service avalanche expert Art Judson said the April 1 measurement was 9 inches deeper than the previous deepest measurement taken at the same place on April 5, 2011.
