A ski lift operator for the Aspen Skiing Co. is dead following a ski accident at Snowmass Ski Area on Thursday.

47-year-old Jeffrey Beadle was found by another skier with multiple chest injuries on an expert run called Cirque Headwall. Authorities say emergency responders attempted to revive him for about two hours.

According to a press release issued at 6:47 a.m., “Snowmass Ski Patrol was called at 1:50 p.m. by another skier. The man was unconscious and unresponsive when Patrol arrived at the scene. They began advanced life saving procedures and continued their efforts as he was transported to a waiting ambulance. The man was a skier and was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.”

“This is a shocking and tragic incident that deeply affects everyone in the company,” said Mike Kaplan, Skico’s president and CEO. “Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his family and friends at this time.”

It was the fourth death within in-bounds Skico areas this ski season. All three previous accidents involved skiers skiing into trees as well.
