Snap Dragon Couloir | Adventures in the Wasatch

Alex Gavic and his partner Max created this edit to show off the hard work and the payoff you get when you go deeper into the backcountry. Enjoy!

A week after our scouting recon, Max and I decided to tour to the very back of Hogum Fork in the Central Wasatch. There had been a nice coat of new snow a few days before. This area of the Wasatch is REMOTE. Rarely seeing tracks with the crazy long approach. The couloir we headed for was Snap Dragon. Possibly the first tracks it has seen all season long. It sustains a 48 degree pitch and is surrounded by jagged cliffs soaring hundreds of feet out of the ground. It was one of the most pristine views I’ve ever had. Enjoy!
