Gear Review- The North Face Fort Point Flannel

At first glance, this looks like your typical flannel. However, what you don’t see is the insulation that makes it more than just a stylish outer layer. The North Face Fort Point Flannel comes equipped with a 40g layer of Heatseeker insulation that gives you added protection against cool fall temperatures. I wouldn’t use it as an outer layer during winter months, but it’s my go to when temperatures are just above freezing. The front snaps make it more durable than traditional flannels with buttons. I used this a lot to chop wood in last fall, as it’s thick enough and tough enough that it doesn’t rip or tear where inferior flannels would. At around $90, it has a higher price tag than most non-namebrand flannels out there, but it’s on par with flannels that other outerwear companies are producing. Plus, it has the quality that you’ve come to expect from TNF, so you know it will last. There’s a new selection of colors for fall 2011, that are just starting to become available. So get on it, and get one before the masses have them!
