Lhotse Ski Expedition Stopped by High Altitude Pulmonary Edema

Ski mountaineers Kris Erikson and Jamie Laidlaw were on Mt. Everest for a long time this Spring.  Their goal was to ski the Lhotse face from the top.  At Camp IV Jamie began to develop High Altitude Pulmonary Edema and they had to speed down the mountain in the middle of the night to lose altitude and save Jamie’s life.

Chris Davenport was also on Mt. Everest this spring and was able to ski a small portion of the Lhotse.  Chris summited Everest in May.

Check out “The man who skied Everest” if you’ve got time.
