Yesterday we lost a larger than life personality in the action sports world with the passing Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin. The unlikely skateboarding icon got his start back in 2004 in a cameo in the The DC Video: Deluxe Edition DVD (above video), where he played a Rob Dyrdek’s personal bodyguard who protected him from security guards trying to shut down skate spots. The duo became fast friends and went on to star in multiple MTV shows documenting their exploits.
R.I.P. Big Black, you brought so many smiles to so many faces and will be missed. Here is a great clip of this modern day odd couple just goofing off and being buddies which is what we all loved so much:
